Hypnosis as an Effective Technique for Smoking Cessation and Weight Loss

Tobacco smoking is the most frequently used recreational drug and is practiced by more than one billion people worldwide. While many people believe smoking is simply an "addiction" to tobacco or other substance, it has biological, behavioral, psychological, and cultural components that tie the individual to the "addiction".

Perceptions about smoking have varied over time but there is strong support today about the hazardous effects of smoking.  Medical science has proven that tobacco smoking can cause many diseases including lung cancer, COPD, heart attacks, erectile dysfunction and can lead to birth defects. So if smoking is harmful, why don’t people simply quit?  It usually takes more than desire to stop smoking.

While the body is chemically addicted to these substances, there is also a component that is based in consciousness.  Frequently, it is this component that is ignored and is why it is hard to quit.  There is an underlying energy of association with smoking that must be uncovered and released for smoking cessation to be successful.  Hypnosis can be helpful in breaking these unconscious patterns.

Successful smoking cessation first and foremost, begins with the decision to quit smoking; the individual must be motivated.  From there, one must begin to identify those components that contribute to the addiction.  Once identified, the person must "desensitize" or "deactivate" the association.  Then the behavioral patterns and associations with smoking must be replaced was healthier variations.

In this manner the individual begins to approximate desirable behaviors and alternatives in place of those behaviors associated with smoking.  Then, the desired behaviors are stabilized and anchored so that the individual can live a life free of the pattern. Success is much more likely when the individual’s consciousness is updated for these new patterns.  However, the factor that must remain strong throughout the smoking cessation process is self-motivation!

Hypnosis is an effective tool whereby the individual can reprogram the underlying unconscious thoughts that are making it difficult for them to change.  It has one of the highest success rates of any therapy. Hypnosis is harmless and you are always in control.  Hypnosis is often the successful partner to assist you in your commitment to quit smoking and allowing you to better enjoy your life!

These same techniques can be applied to other addictive behavior patterns such as alcohol addiction and eating disorders.
